Quick update

I'm still alive! I know you were hanging on the edge of your seat, wondering. I'm still in Edmond, still working in the library. I have my own apartment now and I'm slowly accumulating furniture and other stuff. Edmond has great thrift stores.

Other than that I'm reading lots of Sherlock fic because that show is made of awesome. I don't have cable but I still have netflix, which I think I prefer now anyway. Playing lots of retro games since watching King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters on Netflix, which movie I recommend HIGHLY. OMG I'm obsessed with Donkey Kong again.

And that's about it! What have you all been up to?

Change change change!

So many things are happening right now. I found a job! A real full-time with benefits job, at a real university. Edmond is about 100 miles west of Tulsa, but only about 10 miles away from Oklahoma City. So I'm moving! I don't know if I'll live in Edmond or OKC yet. I'm going to look at apartments this weekend.

It's not a professional librarian's position, but it is a step in the right direction. I'll be making enough money to pay the bills, and that's the most important thing right now. I'm pretty excited about all of it, new job, new city, new apartment. I have a lot of friends in OKC and Edmond, so it won't be too lonely out there. Plus I have an office (like a boss) with a window (like a boss) and door! Huge step up for me.

I went to Dfest a couple of weekends ago and it was a hell of an experience, let me tell you. I saw Citizen Cope, who I started listening to just because he was playing at Dfest, and I had no idea how popular he was in Tulsa. The crowd was HUGE! My job interview was that morning, so I had gotten up early and driven to Edmond then back home, then went to Dfest about 8pm, so around 10:30 during Citizen Cope's set I realized I was falling asleep, on my feet, in a huge crowd at a very loud concert outside on asphalt and I had better go home. It might have had something to do with the contact high. I've never seen so many people smoking weed in public before, and I've been to the Hemp festival in Fayetteville, AR. It was seriously crazy. I had a blast! I also saw Mates of State, Metro Station (ugh, my friend made me go) Cake and a bunch of other bands I can't remember right now. It was awesome.

I'm looking forward to seeing some new Panic footage after tonight's show! I can't say I'm all that broken up over the Panic parting of ways, since I'm all about Brendon and Spencer anyway. I kind of like both new songs, although I don't know about Ryan singing on an entire album. Maybe Jon should take a turn.

Dfest

Dfest is next weekend in Tulsa and I'm getting excited! When I first saw the lineup I was pretty disappointed because last year there were a lot more bands I knew playing, but I have spent the last week listening to some of these bands and finding some good stuff. I'm definitely going to see Citizen Cope, I've had that song on repeat for days now. I'm also really digging on Mates of States new album and I'm going to try to catch them too. Well hell, here's my tentative schedule:

Friday:

Carney 7pm
Delta Spirit 8pm
Ozomatli 8:30pm
Citizen Cope 9pm
Ian Moore 9:10 pm
Gorgol Bordello 10:30 pm

Saturday:
Mates of States 7pm
Ra Ra Riot 7pm
Metro Station (yeah, I know) 10pm
Cake 11:30 pm

yes, I'm double booked there, I know. I'm going to have to see Citizen Cope, though, and Ian Moore plays Tulsa all the time. I'm also sad that I might miss Ra Ra Riot, but Mates of State are just too awesome to miss.

Anyone else going? I'm going with a friend this year, but if there are any LJer's going who would like to meet up to say hi, please drop me a line. I live very close to the Blue Dome district, so we will be taking breaks from the heat and crowds and relaxing in between sets. I love meeting new people, especially fellow fans!

Videos from Believer's Never Die

I had a blast at this show. It was one of my favorite shows ever, without a doubt. I loved being in the pit for once, I always miss these tickets. I'm going to try harder to get pit tickets from here on out. It was worth it. Yes you get pushed around and it's hot and people spill things on you and let's not even go into the wide variety of smells you experience in a pit. Pete Wentz was standing right fucking there! It was worth it to see faces on stage and to be able to make out facial expressions. I loved it. The crowd was kind of small, and it didn't get too shovey. I managed to keep my spot for most of the show by planting my feet and shoving back.

Just an FYI for people like me who get frustrated at all the tiny merch shirts. I got the gray long sleeved hoodie with the What a Catch Donnie single artwork on it in an extra large size and it not only fits me it is kind of roomie (I'm a size 18/20).

I saw the guy who tried to take Pete's Midtown bracelet. I thought the guy was trying to pull Pete down into the crowd, but now I know he was trying to pull the bracelet off. It was during Saturday, of course, when Pete tries to high five the people in the pit. I could see the guy had both hands around Pete's wrist and the security guy holding onto Pete was cussing and holding on for dear life. Pete was trying to pull his arm back and still high five people on the other side.

Lots of fun stuff happened between Pete and Patrick but I don't know if I got any of it. Mostly I was taping songs and the interaction stuff between songs I missed. They did do the box step thing where they dance together. It was cute. Once when Patrick was talking about something, Pete pulled his own shirt up and rubbed his bare chest against Patrick's back. Patrick totally ignored him, of course.

I'm so glad I got to go to this! I wish I could go to another date.

Videos from Believer's Never Die Grand Prairie, TX, Cobra Starship, 50 Cent, Fall Out Boy. My camera ran out of space during My winona and I missed the rest of it.

It’s been three weeks since Spencer and Jon starting fooling around and they haven’t had a lot of time alone together seeing as how they are on tour and constantly chaperoned by Ryan and Brendon. )
